Mobile Robotic Construction (July 2017)
Collaborators: Jacob Zindroski, Marie Razzhivina
This project puts forward a biologically-inspired framework for additive assembly logics using agent-based modeling and mobile robotics. At the core of our research is the vision of a paradigm for mobile robotic collective construction. This conceptual framework was the starting point for the development of a mobile robotic system that we would subsequently attempt to test against various use case hypotheses. The project development is divided into four research areas: behavior, additive construction, sensing, and locomotion. Our goal was to use these areas to find novel solutions to the individual constraints of the system, but also to supplement each other and allow for a more integrated biomimetic result.
