Site: Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY

Collaborators: Yeliz Karadayi

New York City's Center for Urban Farming uses agriculture as a transition from the cityscape to a cafe destination space, which uses food grown on the site. The main stair in the exhibition gallery features a series of terraces that showcase new advances in farming technology such as hydroponics on select stair treads and aeroponic modules underneath. The stair acts as the central circulation space in the building as well as one of the lectures spaces. As the center aims to further the incorporation of local farming in NYC, the site promotes famers markets by providing space around the building for them.
